Join us for an inspiring evening of reflection, storytelling, music, and community as we launch this year’s Beloved Community efforts with a special Kick-Off Celebration at the Longmont Theatre Company. 

More than just an event, this evening is an invitation to gather across organizations, neighborhoods, backgrounds, and experiences to imagine what it means to truly build a Beloved Community together. 

Rooted in the vision first articulated by Martin Luther King Jr., the idea of the Beloved Community calls us toward a society centered on justice, compassion, dignity, and belonging — a community where differences are not barriers, but opportunities for understanding and connection. 

At a time when many people feel isolated or divided, this gathering creates space to come together in a spirit of hope, service, and shared humanity. 

The Kick-Off Celebration will feature keynote speaker Dr. Vonnetta West, whose message will challenge and encourage attendees to engage more deeply in the work of community-building and collective care. 

The evening will also include a powerful dramatized reading of Letter from a Birmingham Jail, the historic work written by Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement. The reading offers a timely opportunity to reflect on justice, moral courage, and the ongoing call to serve one another with compassion and conviction. 

Guests will also experience a one-of-a-kind community choir, bringing together voices from across the region in a shared expression of unity, hope, and belonging. 

Beloved Community is not simply an idea — it is something we build intentionally through relationships, service, listening, and action. 

At St. Vrain Habitat for Humanity, we see this lived out every day when volunteers, homeowners, donors, faith communities, businesses, and neighbors come together to build homes and stronger communities side by side. 

This celebration is an opportunity to expand that vision beyond the construction site and into the broader life of our community. It is a chance to:

• Foster empathy and understanding

• Strengthen partnerships between organizations and communities 

• Create meaningful conversations rooted in dignity and belonging
